Carpenter Ants:
Carpenter ants like to eat both plant and animal matter. They can enter you home in a variety of ways. Through holes in the foundation, cracks in window sills, along cable and pipes going into you home, even brought in on wood or other materials left in your yard.
They are typically found outdoors in old logs, fence posts, and other rotting wood. They have even been found in wooden steps, porches, and window sills. If you do find them in you home it could indicate that you have a moisture problem going on, or the ants have found a way in. Some telltale signs are sawdust and lying ants in the home. The ants are around 6 to 10 mm in size and black.
To prevent the start of a problem, remove all old wood from around your home. Don’t leave that pile of fire wood stacked up against your house. Mice also like that as well. High humidity in your home. If it is to high besides mold and mildew you are making the conditions perfect for bugs and other creatures. Sweep and clean floors regularly. If you are going to use insecticide please read the label first to ensure you are using the right product and follow the manufactures recommended safety guide lines, such as no spraying around pregnant women, children or pets.
